Santa Sagas Anthology Submissions
Introduction
We are excited to announce the submissions period for the annual anthology from Storm Dragon Publishing! The title of the series is Muses of Mythology (MoMa for short). Each yearly anthology has a specific theme. This year we have TWO anthologies coming out. This year’s second title is Santa Sagas. Yes, we’re looking for Santa stories, but we’re also looking for myriad other Christmas mythological creatures like Krampus or Gryla. The collection will include short stories and poetry. Below you will find the instructions for submission for both.
Submission Periods
This year’s MoMa collection will have a submissions period of April 1st, 2026, to July 31st, 2026. Projected publication of Santa Sagas will be Autumn of 2026.
Short Story Submissions
Short story submissions should be between 1000 and 5000 words in length. Submissions should be an email attachment in Word Document format with one-inch margins, double spaced, and utilizing Times New Roman 12-point font. Pieces should can be either original or previously published but under no legal obligations at the time of submission. Authors will need to be able to prove the legal freedom of their pieces. Submissions not following these instructions will not be considered for publication. Please make certain to have as clean a piece as possible, grammatically speaking.
Blended genres with unique perspectives on Christmas myths are welcome. While scenes of intense description around topics of rape, torture, or other sensitive topics will not necessarily disqualify a piece for consideration, please keep in mind that this is a fantasy genre anthology, not horror. That’s means that Santa stories should border on the dark fantasy subgenre side as opposed to outright horror.
The presence of Christmas mythical creatures is mandatory to be considered. No works that are metaphorical in nature will be considered. Christmas creatures should feature as actual characters in the submitted work.
Submissions should be emailed to the author email draco.amethystus@gmail.com. The title of the email should be in the following format: Author Last Name/Author First Name/Short Fiction Submission/Title of the Work. One submission per writer please.
Poetry Submissions
Writers may submit up to five poems for consideration. Submissions should be email attachments in Word Document format with one-inch margins, double spaced, and utilizing Times New Roman 12-point font. Pieces should can be either original or previously published but under no legal obligations at the time of submission. Authors will need to be able to prove the legal freedom of their pieces. Submissions not following these instructions will not be considered for publication.
Any form of poetry is welcome including epic poetry. No one poem should be longer than four double spaced pages to be considered for publication. Submissions should be emailed to the author email draco.amethystus@gmail.com. The title of the email should be in the following format: Author Last Name/Author First Name/Poetry Submission. One submission per writer please.
Payment and Rights
All contributors will be paid $10 USD through PayPal. Please note that SDP can only pay through PayPal and no other app. Authors will not be provided with a free copy of the completed anthology, but are welcome to purchase one. All contributors will be required to sign a contract with Storm Dragon Publishing (SDP) prior to publication. SDP will request first publication rights of the piece for the length of one calendar year beginning from the original publication date of the anthology. Please note that no royalties will be possible.
Follow Up
All submissions will be answered per email within the month of August at the latest. We request that writers not email prior to this time frame. If, for some reason, a writer has not heard back from SDP by the end of this time period, they are invited to reach out per email about their submission decision.
